For Gentle Harry’s Farm 2025, we decided to create a completely new musical score. Our composer, Rowan Talbot, began writing the songs and incidental music in late 2024, shaping a fresh sound world for the story to live in.

People often ask us for recordings of our music — and while some original cast recordings from past productions are available to stream on Spotify, it’s not always possible to record the full cast every year. Making an album is a long process, and with our busy tour schedule, time usually runs away with us!

That said, we thought you might enjoy hearing some of the demo recordings. What’s a demo, you ask? These are the early “scratch” versions made before rehearsals begin — before the actors even get their hands on them! The arrangements, lyrics and keys often change later to suit different voices and ideas as the show develops.

Below, you can listen to the original demo tracks that were sent to the cast — along with the sheet music and script — in early 2025. They were recorded and produced by Rowan Talbot in his South Wales studio over five months, from October 2024 to February 2025.

These tracks were never really meant for public ears — they’re part of our creative process, made as a rehearsal tool to help shape the final show.

The finished score was arranged for vocals, piano, violin, cello, guitar, banjo, double bass, ukulele, flute, saxophone, glockenspiel, harmonium, penny whistle, drums and percussion.
