Children & Families
Our productions are not made specifically for children and are primarily intended for an adult audience. However, children and young people are very welcome, and many families enjoy coming to see us together. The content of each production is different, so parents and carers are responsible for deciding whether a particular show is suitable for the children in their care.Where there is anything in a production that we think parents may particularly want to be aware of, we will provide information on the production page.
We don't normally have a minimum age for our performances, unless otherwise stated for a particular production. However, our shows are relatively long and are written primarily for adults. We ask parents and carers to consider whether their child will be comfortable sitting quietly and watching a performance for around two hours. As with any live theatre performance, talking, crying or regularly moving around can be distracting for the performers and other audience members. If you think your child may find it difficult to remain settled and quiet for the duration of the show, our performances may not yet be suitable for them.
Yes. Children attending our performances need their own ticket.Child, family and concessionary tickets are available for all of our performances, and current prices are shown when you book. One thing: I haven't included babies in that statement. We should decide separately whether a baby who is carried/on a parent's lap requires a ticket, rather than accidentally creating a policy here that you don't currently have.
There is not normally a specific age restriction, but we ask you to consider carefully whether the performance will be suitable for a baby or very young child. Our productions are primarily intended for adults and generally last around two hours. Audience members need to be able to watch the performance without causing a significant distraction to the performers or those around them.If a baby or young child becomes unsettled, starts crying or is otherwise causing a disturbance during the performance, we ask that you leave the audience area with them until they have settled.
Yes. Children are welcome to sit on the ground at our open-air performances, but there is no dedicated ground-seating area.We recommend arriving early if you would like your children to sit on the ground, as we cannot guarantee that there will be a suitable space with a clear view once the audience area becomes busy.
Yes. Families are very welcome to bring a picnic to our open-air performances and arrive early to enjoy the venue before the show.Picnic rugs, tables and other picnic furniture must be packed away by 7pm so that they don't take up excessive space in the audience area. You are welcome to continue eating and drinking after this time.Picnics are not permitted inside our Little Big Top.
